Every Premier League manager sacked in 2026/27 (updated list)

24 September 2026

Last updated: 1 September 2026. We update this page every time a manager goes.

The 2026/27 Premier League season started with the biggest managerial turnover in the league's history. Nine of the 20 clubs began the campaign with a manager appointed since May, the most in the English top flight since 1946/47. The average tenure across the league on opening day was 474 days, the lowest it's ever been.

That's the starting point. Below is the running list of who has gone since, followed by the full line-up as it stood on day one, and last season's list for comparison.

Sacked or departed this season

None yet. The first sacking of 2025/26 came on 9 September, so the clock is ticking.

(Format for entries once they start: date, manager, club, record this season, replacement.)

The 2026/27 line-up on opening day

New this summer marked with an asterisk.

Who's under most pressure

This is opinion, and we'll be wrong about some of it.

Nottingham Forest. Evangelos Marinakis sacked three managers last season and moved another one on this summer. Glasner has a good record but Forest is the one job in the league where results and security seem to have no relationship.

Chelsea. Alonso is the fourth permanent manager since the start of 2025. The owners have shown they'll act quickly, and a slow start with a squad this expensive would be noticed.

Tottenham. De Zerbi did well to keep them up but this is a club that sacked two managers last season. Expectations reset over the summer.

The promoted clubs. Lampard, Jakirovic and O'Neil all start the season needing results quickly. Historically at least one promoted manager doesn't make it to Christmas.

Safest. Arteta and Emery. It would take something extraordinary.

Last season's list (2025/26), for comparison

Ten sackings across six clubs, which was unusually high:

Then over the summer: Slot left Liverpool, Guardiola left City, Howe left Newcastle, McKenna left Ipswich, Glasner left Palace, and Iraola left Bournemouth for Anfield.

Why we track this

Partly because it's interesting. Mostly because it's the pressure every manager game is trying to simulate. In Manager of Football, the board's patience is one of the things you're managing, and it tends to run out at about the same rate it does in real life. Play it free in your browser.
